This page contains more detailed advice on the following:

  • Selecting different Jurisdictions
  • Using the Search facility
  • Further general information on Codes of Practice
  • Selecting Jurisdictions

You should perform queries for any State or Territory in which you intend to conduct business. Your current jurisdiction is displayed at the top of the Query and Search pages. Click on 'Change Jurisdiction' to obtain information from another jurisdiction.

Note that once selected, a Code of Practice will remain selected until specifically deselected regardless of changes to jurisdiction.

    Using the Search facility
The Search page has two sections - a Simple Text Search and an Advanced Search. Note that each section has its own submit button, and that all searches will be limited to codes of the currently selected jurisdiction(s).

The simple text search will return codes that contain the keywords or phrase entered into the search string field. If you specify XXXX AND YYYY, codes containing both XXXX and YYYY will be returned. If you specify XXXX OR YYYY, Codes of Practice containing either XXXX or YYYY will be returned. You can use the asterisk character "*" as a wildcard; searching for Gas* will return Codes containing Gas, Gasfitter, Gaseous, etc.

The Advanced search allows for a more precise selection of Codes by narrowing the search to keywords and phrases that appear in specific fields. Only codes that satisfy all the search criteria you specify will be returned. If XXXX is entered in the Code Name field and YYYY in the Keywords field only codes that contain both XXXX in their name, and YYYY in their Keyword field will be returned.

The Code Type and Industry select lists have multiselect capabilites. By holding down the 'Ctrl' key while clicking on entries, any other previously selected entries are not deselected. 'Ctrl' click can also be used to toggle the selection state of an entry. Dragging the mouse while holding down the left mouse button will select multiple entries. When multiple Code Types are selected, codes satisfying any selected Code Type will be returned. Similarly, when multiple Industries are selected, codes satisfying any selected Industry will be returned.

    As an example, entering:

LLLL in the Code Name field
    PPPP in the Keywords field
and selecting the two Code Types S1 and S2

will return codes that satisfy the following criteria:

(CodeName Contains LLLL) AND (Keywords Contains PPPP) AND ((CodeType = S1) OR (CodeType=S2))
